Jump starter - co to jest i jakie urządzenie wybrać?

Jump starter - what it is and which device to choose?

If you have ever turned the key and only heard a sad “click”, this text is for you – we will show you how to perform an emergency car start and a few additional garage tasks using professional Högert Technik jump starters. Why have a starter device? Advantages of a jump starter. A discharged battery doesn’t ask whether you have time – it simply immobilizes the car at home, at work or at a station in the middle of the night. In such situations a starter device, commonly called a jump starter, becomes indispensable. It allows you to: Start the car yourself with a 12-volt battery, without having to call costly roadside assistance. It’s real peace of mind that gives you independence. Take care of safety – you don’t have to mess around with strangers’ cables and random cars in the parking lot. The whole process is safe and under your control. Gain additional functions: many Högert Technik models are not only a booster but also a phone power bank, flashlight, and even a compressor or wireless charger – depending on the chosen model. Which Högert Technik starter device models can you choose from? On hoegert.com you will find several jump starters – all offering a solid 400A starting current, but with different, useful additional features. This lets you pick the perfect booster for your needs. Each of these models supports you in the same way: you can be sure you will start the car and finish your project – without the feeling that “you couldn’t do it”. That is the philosophy of Högert Technik. Parameter HT8G622 HT8G623 HT8G624 HT8G625 Starting current (A) 400 400 400 500 Peak current (A) 800 800 800 1000 Battery type Li-Po Li-Po Li-Po Capacitor Battery capacity (mAh) 10600 10000 10000 - Power bank ☑ ☑ ☑ - Wireless charger - ☑ - - Compressor - - ☑ - Flashlight ☑ ☑ ☑ - In practice this means that a capacitor starter device is a great “last-resort rescuer”: it can sit in the trunk for a long time, isn’t afraid of freezing temperatures, and prepares for operation very quickly, provided the car battery is not completely dead. It’s the ideal solution for those who value maximum reliability in all conditions. How to safely use a jump starter? (step by step) There is no room for guessing here – the scheme below applies to all Högert Technik starter devices Högert Technik 400A), ensuring a safe and effective emergency start. Step 1 – preparing for an emergency start Make sure the booster is charged to at least 50%. The LED or LCD indicator will show the battery level. Check the car’s manual to see if the manufacturer allows external starting. This is crucial for the safety of your vehicle. Turn off the ignition and all consumers (lights, radio, fan). Step 2 – correct connection of the jump starter clamps Insert the blue plug of the starting cable fully into the start port on the starter device – if it is not fully seated, it may melt. Connect the red clamp to the positive (+) terminal of the battery. Attach the black clamp to ground: a metal part of the engine or – if the vehicle manufacturer allows – to the negative terminal of the battery. Step 3 – starting Turn on the jump starter with the power button and wait until two green indicators light up or a READY message appears (in models with an LCD). Try to start the engine – crank for up to about 5 seconds and take breaks so the device can cool down. After a successful start, first disconnect the cable from the device, then remove the clamps from the battery. Step 4 – things to remember when using a starter device The minimum car battery voltage is about 2 V – with a “dead” battery below this value a car starter may not work. A booster can perform several consecutive starts (usually up to 5), but after each it needs about a 30-second break and about 10 minutes to cool down after a series. Do not charge the device at temperatures below 0°C – this damages the lithium battery. Capacitor jump starter – when is it the best choice? For those seeking maximum reliability and resistance to extreme conditions, the Högert Technik HT8G625 is a real game changer. This is not an ordinary battery jump starter – it is a capacitor starter device that works on a completely different principle. What if the car battery is completely dead? If the car battery is completely dead (practically 0 V), the capacitor starter will have no source from which to “draw” energy to charge its capacitors. In that case you need to recharge it from another source – e.g. another working battery, the car’s 12 V socket, or even via USB (depending on the specific model and its functions). This makes it a reliable rescuer, but with a somewhat different usage profile. How does this differ from a classic battery jump starter? Let’s look at it from a DIYer’s perspective: Feature Capacitor Lithium-polymer Energy storage Stored in an electric field Chemical storage Readiness after long storage Almost always ready After several months without charging it may be discharged and require recharging Operating temperature Works even at very low temperatures Capacity drops significantly in the cold Cycle life Up to 10,000 charge/discharge cycles Usually hundreds to a few thousand cycles, with greater capacity loss over time How to use You first need to charge the capacitors from the battery or another source (about 2 min) Ready “immediately” if it was previously charged and kept in readiness. In practice this means that a capacitor starter device is a great “last-resort rescuer”: it can sit in the trunk for a long time, isn’t afraid of freezing temperatures, and prepares for operation very quickly, provided the car battery is not completely dead. It’s the ideal solution for those who value maximum reliability in all conditions. Starter devices – overview of Högert Technik models It’s not just a “car starter”. It’s a small power and support center in the field that expands the possibilities of your garage. Power bank and fast charging All described models have a USB 3.0 port that can charge a phone with currents even 5V 3A, 9V 2A, 12V 1.5A – which means they also work as a fast power bank. Just plug in the included USB-C cable and hold the power button for about 3 seconds to activate charging. 10W wireless charger The HT8G623 model has a built-in 10W wireless charger – just place a compatible phone on the top surface of the jump starter. The device will stop charging and switch off automatically, and slight warming of the phone during charging is normal. 8 bar compressor The HT8G624 model has a built-in compressor with pressure up to 8 bar – simply connect the hose and threaded fitting to the tyre valve, set the target pressure and press the inflate button. The dual LCD shows the current pressure and the set value, and when the set level is reached the compressor switches off automatically. After 10 minutes of continuous operation the compressor needs about 15 minutes to cool down. LED flashlight with SOS mode Every Högert Technik starter device has a built-in LED flashlight with three modes: constant light, flashing and SOS – you switch them with short presses of the button. This is particularly useful for night breakdowns or working on the car after dark, adding another safety element to your car starter. The flashlight is not a “gadget” – it is real safety support in crisis situations. How to choose a jump starter for your car? If you wish, you can treat choosing a starter device as your “first project” – project: independent driver. Remember that every Högert Technik jump starter is an investment in your peace of mind.Do you just want emergency support to start your car when you face a discharged battery? Choose the HT8G622 device – easy to use, compact, without “unnecessary bells and whistles”. A reliable jump starter - sure help in a crisisDo you often use your phone, navigation, or enjoy wireless technology? The HT8G623 device will allow effective car starting + fast wired and wireless 10W charging in one device.Do you drive more, care about tyres, have a bike, scooter, trailer? The HT8G624 device with an 8 bar compressor will be your “pocket service” – you can inflate tyres, check pressure and start the car. It’s a versatile starter device. Are you looking for maximum power and durability, and a standard jump starter is not enough? Consider the capacitor 500A starter device (HT8G625), which delivers 500A starting current, peaks at 1000A, ideal for tougher starts and heavier vehicles. Regardless of choice, Högert Technik stands by your side as comprehensive, reliable support in every task – from the first emergency start to more ambitious driveway projects.Author: Paweł Sokołowski

What is a torque wrench used for? Types and selection

When making bolted connections, you often have to rely on your own experience when tightening bolts. Too little torque will cause the nut to come loose. Conversely, applying too much force will shear the bolt while tightening or under load during operation. In such situations it's good to have a torque wrench on hand. It allows tightening bolts with a strictly defined force set on the tool. How does such a device work? What kind of torque wrench is worth buying? And how to use it correctly? We answer these questions in this article. What is a torque wrench? A tool used for loosening and tightening bolts and nuts with a strictly defined force is called a torque wrench. It allows selecting the torque according to the manufacturer's specifications. It is most often used to tighten car wheels in such a way that the connection does not loosen while driving, while also protecting the nuts and bolts from being sheared. Its use is also recommended for components working under variable load. The torque wrench is also used in precise connections of aluminum to steel or another aluminum component. How does a torque wrench work? The general principle of a torque wrench is to limit the maximum torque with which the bolt is tightened. Depending on the model, the tool will then disconnect, preventing further tightening, or emit an audible signal when the set limit is exceeded. Much therefore depends on which torque wrench we use. The internal construction is, however, quite similar. It is based on a spring whose tension is adjusted by the user. Electronic models also include a strain gauge sensor that reads the current torque. After the setting is exceeded, the mechanism locks or disengages the gear. Does a torque wrench work both ways? In this respect the tool is similar to a ratchet wrench. The gears transfer torque in only one direction in the given setting. However, it is easy to change the direction of operation of the tool by turning it or flipping the switch. Types of torque wrenches How a torque wrench works is to some extent dependent on its type. Among the most popular solutions you can find: The most classic solution is the pointer torque wrench. They have an indicator of the resistance that the bolt exerts while tightening. The reading accuracy in this case is up to 4%. Some models have a lock system after the setting is exceeded. It is a simple force gauge that increases control over the torque with which a bolt or nut is tightened. Mechanical wheel torque wrench. Also called a click wrench. The spring inside bends under load, and after the set force is exceeded it releases a pawl that locks the tool. At that moment a characteristic click is heard, signaling that the bolt is properly tightened. Individual models allow setting torque from 20 to 200 Nm. The hinged (breaking) torque wrench is equipped with a special hinge that releases when the torque exceeds the setting on the device. Then the tool bends at an angle of 20 degrees, preventing further tightening. After removal, the wrench returns to its initial position and is ready for the next use. The modern, good electronic torque wrench is equipped with an LCD screen showing the currently used force. Measurement accuracy can range from 0.5% to 4%. After exceeding the set value, an audible signal sounds and pawls cut off the possibility of further tightening. An additional useful function is the memory of several basic settings. Which torque wrench for the engine and which to choose for fastening car wheels? Each of the types listed will work equally well for any task. However, there are also specialized models with a narrow range of applications. Torque wrench for valves with a maximum torque of 0.45 Nm protects metal and rubber valves from damage during screwing. How to use a torque wrench? You already know what a torque wrench is, how it works and what types you can encounter. But how to apply the knowledge in practice? First you must choose the right size of the tool. 1/4'' torque wrench has a square of size 1/4 inch. It is the element connecting the device with interchangeable sockets of various sizes, which should be matched to the size of the bolt. You can encounter three most popular drive sizes: 1/4 inch is suitable for precision work with socket sizes up to 13 inclusive. The 3/8 inch square is used for standard car work. For the heaviest jobs choose a 1/2 inch or 1 inch wrench. Next you must choose the proper ratchet rotation direction and the maximum tightening torque. Finally you can begin work. We have already written about how to use a torque wrench in another article of ours. Which torque wrench to choose? Before buying, it's worth considering what a torque wrench is for? It is most often associated with tightening car wheels, but it is also always used when assembling an engine block. To properly carry out such a process, it is necessary to repeatedly tighten bolts with a specified torque. The slightest mistake can result in gasket damage. That is why the torque wrench is an indispensable work tool in this case. On the other hand it is also useful in the home workshop if you want to avoid the risk of shearing bolted connections. It is also useful when repairing a bicycle or other household equipment. Which torque wrench should you choose? It's worth opting for durable models made of chrome-molybdenum steel, made by reputable manufacturers. They are characterized by high strength and hardness, while also being corrosion-resistant due to the high chrome content. Before buying, be sure to check the range of torque offered by the given torque wrench. Professional equipment often offers a smaller range with greater measurement accuracy. Our staff, who have extensive experience using such tools, can also advise you. They will gladly suggest which solution will be best in your case.Author: Paweł Sokołowski

Wiertarko-wkrętarka – jaką wybrać i czym się kierować podczas wyboru?

Drill-driver – which one to choose and what to consider when choosing?

A professional drill for every material, often equipped with an impact function, is an essential piece of equipment not only for the handyman but also for professional installers and specialists. Like a screwdriver, it speeds up work and makes tightening screws and bolts easier. So is it worth investing in both tools, or should you opt for a universal drill-driver? In many cases the latter solution will work better. But what should you pay attention to so that the purchased model meets all requirements? Key parameters of a drill-driver – what to look for when choosing? Which drill-driver will be best? To find the answer to this question, you should familiarize yourself with the basic parameters of the device. What should you pay particular attention to? Type of motor. A brushed electric motor, although cheaper to produce, wears out faster, which involves the costly replacement of brushes. If you use power tools frequently, it's better to opt for brushless motors, which provide longer, more reliable operation and greater comfort (lower weight). Voltage. A drill-driver can run on 12, 14 or 18 V batteries. The higher the voltage, the greater the torque and power of the device. Battery capacity is another important parameter. A drill-driver can only be used for a limited time. A large battery capacity will provide energy for long hours of work, while small batteries require constant charging. Torque determines the capabilities of the device. There are two types of torque: soft and hard. The former describes drilling in soft materials, when force increases with depth. Hard torque increases gradually and determines the ability to drill in hard materials. The rotational speed of mid-range drill-drivers is from 1.5 to 2 thousand revolutions per minute. Higher speeds provide greater comfort and speed up the work. Don't forget to check what materials the individual components of the device are made of. Plastic components wear out faster and are not able to carry heavy loads. Additional functions are useful in special cases. The ability to set the available power will protect you from damaging a thread. Meanwhile, the impact function facilitates drilling in hard materials such as masonry, concrete or brick. Additional equipment also matters. A suitable charger for the batteries, durable bits or a bag that makes it easier to carry the device to the workplace. Before purchasing a drill-driver you should carefully consider what parameters the chosen model should have. They will affect not only the comfort of working but also the durability and reliability of the tool. Drill-driver with impact or without? A small model for home use will cope with simple tasks. It is usually used occasionally, so work efficiency is not of great importance. People who use power tools more often have higher requirements. They drill into hard walls or concrete much more often, and work efficiency is very important. In their case a hammer/impact drill-driver will be a good idea. Why? The drill bit or screwdriver bit rotates during operation. The impact provides additional reciprocating movement of the tip. Thanks to this a drill-driver with an impact function handles medium-hard and hard surfaces (drilling in concrete) better. Mechanical impact is based on the operation of two gears that cause the additional movement of the tip. This is a cheaper solution but also less effective. It will work in the case of medium-hard materials. Not all drill-driver accessories will work well with a given type of impact. An electropneumatic model requires the use of an SDS-type chuck, which enables the additional reciprocating movement. Such drill bits can also work with a drill-driver with mechanical impact, but their effectiveness will not be greater than that of universal tips. If you care about the reliability of the tools, a brushless impact drill-driver is a good idea. A modern motor design provides maximum performance. Why is a cordless drill-driver the best? Mobility is usually the most important factor. A cordless drill-driver is light and does not require a power source at the workplace. For this reason it is easier to reach hard-to-access places. Such a model will also be useful in the garden or at the initial stage of construction where there is no power connection yet. When buying, pay attention to the voltage provided by a given battery. Batteries of 12 V, 14 V and 18 V are available on the market. Power tools at 12 V are intended for household applications. A professional brushless drill-driver is most often designed for 18 V power. The drawback of batteries is their limited capacity. With eight hours of work there is a high risk that the battery will be completely drained. What then? The answer is drill-driver sets with two batteries. Such an energy reserve usually lasts a full day of intensive work. Additionally, you don't have to interrupt your work to charge a depleted battery. It is also possible to add to the set yourself. A battery for a drill-driver can be purchased separately, after first checking whether it fits your line of power tools. Often the same battery can power not only the drill-driver but also other devices, such as an impact wrench, angle grinder, etc. Importantly, screwdriver bits and drill bits fit all models of drill-drivers. Therefore one set of bits will work for many years, provided the tips are made of durable material.Author: Paweł Sokołowski

Czym jest tworzywo PU?

What is PU material?

PU material, i.e. polyurethane, is a polymer formed by the polymerization of multifunctional isocyanates with polyols. It is derived from crude oil. It is used, among other things, in the production of elastic fibers such as elastane, which are then used to manufacture outdoor, trekking and workwear, as well as any other clothing where comfort of use and freedom of movement are important. The main advantages of PU include: comfort of use (skin-friendly, pleasant to the touch); moisture permeability while remaining resistant to water; high stretchability; durability. Polyurethanes are easier to process than polyamides due to their lower melting point, which is why they are much more widely used. Commonly used PU-coated materials are very popular, e.g. in upholstery. PU coating is a material that imitates leather - the so-called "eco leather". PU material offers a wide range of elasticity adjustments to suit our needs, and also allows us to influence which external factors it should be resistant to. PU-based outerwear performs well in all weather conditions by adjusting its properties to provide moisture protection and cold resistance.Author: Grzegorz Nowak
