Co to jest powleczenie DWR?

What is DWR coating?

An important concept, most often encountered in descriptions of outdoor clothing, is the term DWR. It is an essential element of protection against rain. Durable Water Repellency (DWR) is a treatment of clothing that protects against rapid soaking by imparting hydrophobic properties. The coating that is added to fabrics by impregnation provides a thin water-repellent layer over which water can run off. The most commonly factory-applied agent for this purpose is a fluoropolymer. The DWR coating is therefore a great addition that enhances a material's water resistance. Fabric without DWR treatment looks heavy and soaked in the rain, even when the material has not actually become saturated. The DWR coating technique is now essential to ensure appropriate comfort of use. However, it should be remembered that through improper use or lack of care the DWR layer can be damaged. It is negatively affected by: oil cigarette smoke other types of contaminants washing is also detrimental. Therefore an important aspect is cleaning and refreshing the DWR coating, which allows us to enjoy the practical properties of the clothing for a long time. However, appropriate detergents should be used for this purpose. For a complete renewal of the DWR layer, a dedicated spray will be helpful, thanks to which our coating will be like new and clothing equipped with DWR will serve us for a very long time.Author: Grzegorz Nowak

Klucz dynamometryczny. Co to jest? Jak używać? Jak go poprawnie ustawić?

Torque wrench. What is it? How to use it? How to set it correctly?

The correct torque is crucial for the proper assembly and operation of bolted connections in various structures and mechanisms. In such cases you cannot rely on feel alone; you must use appropriate tools that limit the maximum tightening force. However how do you set the correct Nm value on a torque wrench? And how do you calibrate a torque wrench? You can read about this in the article below What is a torque wrench and how does it work? To properly set a torque wrench, it is worth understanding how it works. The secret lies in a small spring. When the wrench encounters resistance, this spring stretches until the set torque (the Nm value on the scale) is reached — then a release of the lock occurs, preventing further tightening of the bolt. These tools belong to ratchet wrenches, which means they transfer torque in only one direction (tightening bolts). Analog or digital torque wrenches? Learn the different types Among popular solutions, one can particularly mention: Pointer (analog) torque wrenches. A classic solution equipped with a simple pointer and a graduated scale. This way you can monitor the correct tightening torque of bolts during work. Some models additionally have a locking pawl that prevents tightening beyond the set torque. Mechanical torque wrenches. The tool has a ratchet mechanism, so using a mechanical torque wrench is often associated with a characteristic click that indicates the set torque has been reached. Electronic torque wrenches. They have an LCD screen showing the current torque. Electronic wrenches store presets, which significantly speeds up work, especially in auto workshops. Break-type torque wrenches, which have an additional hinge. When the set torque is reached, the wrench 'breaks', preventing further operation. After removing it, it returns to the standard position, allowing further work. Whether they are click wrenches, or professional torque wrenches with a scale, it is important to set the wrench correctly. How do you use it properly? How to use a torque wrench? A torque wrench is a delicate precision tool. Therefore knowing why and how to use it is very important. A torque wrench is useful for tightening bolts during the assembly of many mechanical components, especially in automotive work or bicycles. Different types of wrenches have different torque ranges, so they must be matched to the specific application. Proper storage of torque wrenches and regular calibration of the tools are also important. Correct wrench setting allows you to achieve the right tightening torque and will indicate the correct torque measurement. What does Nm on a torque wrench mean and how important is torque? The wrench's measurement range is very important. It is marked with a scale expressed in Nm. It represents tightening torque values and stands for newton-meters. In other words it is the product of force (measured in newtons) and the lever arm at which it acts (in meters). By definition, one unit of torque means a force of 1 N acting on a lever arm (wrench length) of 1 m. The torque range depends on the mechanism used, i.e., the type of wrench. Why should torque wrenches be used? The user manual for many components specifies the need to use a torque wrench. Why is this so important? Sometimes there is a risk of damaging the connection if a bolt is overtightened. In other cases the bolt's structure may be compromised. In such a case the connection may fail at any time (e.g., during machine operation). Tightening wheel bolts should also be done with the correct torque so that the wheel does not come loose while driving. Precise tightening of bolts guarantees the proper functioning of the component. How to set a torque wrench for wheels? The tightening force for car wheel bolts is in the range of 110-140 Nm. Such a torque value secures the wheel against coming loose. Tightening wheel bolts should be done according to the vehicle's manual, because in some cases the recommended setting may fall outside the range mentioned above. It is also worth remembering that bicycle torque wrenches operate with much smaller torque. Which torque wrench will fit an engine? A wrench is also necessary when assembling an engine block. For this purpose a professional tool is used, whose torque measurement range is adjusted to that specific task. When assembling a block torque is important, but the correct sequence of tightening the individual bolts is equally crucial. Setting the torque wrench differs at various stages of engine assembly. It is often also necessary to calibrate the torque wrench before starting work. The correct torque ensures the sealing of the entire assembly and trouble-free operation. Remember that the engine is not the only component in vehicles. Bolted connections occur, for example, in the running gear and in many other constructions, including those not related to cars. Can you loosen bolts with a torque wrench? Torque wrenches are intended for tightening bolts. As for loosening — do not do this, because it can lead to damage to the mechanism. Such damage to a torque wrench excludes further use of it. Indicated tightening torque values may become inaccurate. In most cases there is no possibility to calibrate a torque wrench. Torque wrench: match the force to the application! Proper use of an electronic wrench starts with choosing its power. Which wrench is needed for a given task depends on the job. That is why different types of torque wrenches are available. How to choose them correctly? Tightening car and motorcycle wheels requires quite a lot of force. Therefore in this case it is worth choosing a torque wrench with a range from 40 to 200 Nm. To assemble an engine block, wrenches with a range up to 25 or 30 Nm are used. Smaller components, like spark plugs, have more delicate threaded connections. The best choice is a torque wrench with a range up to 25 Nm. Meanwhile, a torque wrench for valve stems has a range of only up to 0.45 Nm. The wrench's measurement range should be larger than the recommended setting, by at least several percent. Precise tightening is not possible near the ends of the scale, where the mechanism may show some deviations. Professional torque wrenches are designed for specific tasks so that recommended settings fall near the middle of the scale, providing the best accuracy of settings. Which torque wrench will work well in a home garage? Digital torque wrenches work best in a home garage, providing the correct tightening torque. The torque setting is made using buttons and options visible on the screen, which makes the torque wrench easier to use for people who need them only occasionally. Memory presets also make it easier to reconfigure the device for repetitive tasks. For professional operators different types of tightening wrenches are recommended depending on the task, such as a torque wrench for engines. However, in a home garage a universal model with a wide adjustment range is often sufficient. How to calibrate a torque wrench? What is tool calibration and how does it work? It is a check to ensure that the tightening force corresponds to the reading. Using a torque wrench relies on the correct tightening torque - therefore the measurement error cannot be too large. How to calibrate a torque wrench? The simplest way to calibrate is to send the wrench to a service. An alternative is to purchase a calibration device. This is a good solution for workshops that frequently use torque wrenches. Calibration should be performed at least once a year or after 5,000 uses. Author: Paweł Sokołowski

Stacja zasilania: co to jest i do czego służy?

Power station: what is it and what is it used for?

Most devices around us require electricity to function properly. However, while traveling or on vacation access to the power grid is often severely limited, and sometimes even impossible. In such situations, reliable power stations that provide large amounts of electricity anywhere come to the rescue. They also work well as backup protection in case of a power outage. What is a power station? Modern technologies bring us closer together, but at the same time mean that without electricity we become completely cut off from the world. How to cope in such a situation? One solution is a power station: high-capacity batteries with universal USB, AC and DC outputs. Just plug in a computer or phone to regain access to the virtual world. Moreover, mobile power stations are also perfect for trips. Especially for various kinds of campsites where access to the power grid is limited. A small gel travel battery – a power station will make your stay more enjoyable. How does a power station work? Why is a power station so reliable? Because its operation is very simple. The most important components are lithium-ion batteries that store electrical energy. The device also has power inverters to provide the appropriate current parameters for connected devices (AC/DC). A power station does, however, require charging. This is most often done by plugging the device into a socket. But what if there will be no access to the power grid for an extended period? Then a power station with photovoltaic panels will be indispensable. With a bit of sun (which should never be lacking on vacation), the batteries will fill up with green energy. Power station and its applications Where are high-capacity batteries most often useful? Home power stations are very popular. They are an ideal backup in case of a power outage. You can connect an internet router to the station and recharge a laptop – useful for people working remotely. In winter it can also serve as emergency power for a furnace or other important home systems. On the other hand, portable power stations can be taken on vacation. While relaxing in nature, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, stations will allow you to top up the batteries of basic devices we use daily: phones, smartwatches, or navigation devices. You can connect several devices to a single power station. This way it can act as a large power bank during an organized trip. When away from home, a power station combined with a photovoltaic panel becomes a small solar power plant. Now you can enjoy access to green energy anywhere. It is a universal device with a reserve amount of electrical energy. The user decides when the stored power will be needed. Power station or generator — key differences How does an emergency power station differ from a generator? It may seem that both devices serve the same function, but their operation is completely different. A generator needs fuel, which is then converted into electricity by an internal combustion engine and an alternator. This means high noise levels and exhaust emissions. For this reason, in enclosed spaces a power station is preferable to a generator. Although its price is somewhat higher, it does not require the additional purchase of diesel oil or extra servicing. Additionally, a power station with a photovoltaic panel can generate electricity on the go — without noise or fumes. Emergency power station — usefulness and features Modern power stations provide energy security while traveling or on vacations spent in places without access to electricity. The available power of such devices varies by model. The smallest 350 W models allow 7 charges of a tablet or camera. They can also power a car fridge for over 4 hours. A 1000 W travel power station can power the same fridge for a 16-hour stop. These devices also have many additional features and conveniences. They can be charged in three different ways. The greatest security is provided by a power station with photovoltaic panels. In sunny weather it charges continuously, providing even larger power reserves. Stations allow connecting up to 8 devices to 5 types of outputs with voltages from 5 to 230 V. Wireless charging is also possible. In addition, all models, including the 600 W travel power station, are equipped with LED lighting. Energy-efficient and reliable lights are a perfect addition to evening conversations in a group. Which power station is best for home? A mobile power station for trips, especially with the ability to connect photovoltaic modules, is an excellent investment for travelers. Which power station will be best for home use? In that case, the device's weight is less important, while its capacity matters — you never know how long a network failure will take to fix. That is why a 1000 W or even 2000 W power station is the best choice. You can find such models in our store. Check our offer and never worry about sudden power cuts again!Author: Paweł Sokołowski

Jak korzystać z suwmiarki? Budowa i działanie suwmiarki

How to use a caliper? Structure and operation of a caliper

A caliper is a measuring tool used in many industries, including mechanics, automation, and manufacturing. How to use a caliper to obtain a precise measurement? It all depends on the type of instrument – there are manual and digital calipers available. How does a caliper work? Construction and operating principle of a caliper A caliper is one of the most frequently used measuring instruments. It consists of a guide and a slider that can be moved freely along it. To take a measurement, a pair of jaws is used – they allow checking both external and internal values, as well as depth. Moreover, these jaws are shaped so that you can simultaneously measure the diameter of, for example, an external gear and the internal core of a screw. The guide has a scale marked in metric or imperial units. The surface of the slider serves as the indicator. In addition to manual tools, there are digital calipers – equipped with an integrated digital display. How does an electronic caliper work? The mechanism of this instrument operates the same way as a manual caliper, but the measurement result is shown on an LCD. The advantage of digital calipers is the ability to switch units from imperial to metric and vice versa. How to use a caliper to obtain a reliable measurement? Understanding the principles of how a caliper works will allow you to use it correctly. Like all such measuring tools, a caliper must above all be precise. So before you check how to use a caliper, make sure it is properly calibrated. This matters especially for digital instruments. To calibrate a caliper, simply reset it using the appropriate button. The displayed value should be zero. Regarding manual calipers, check whether the scales align at the zero position. If they do not, you can try to straighten the tool yourself manually or with pliers. However, frequent use, improper storage, or mechanical damage can bend it enough that using the caliper will carry a high risk of measurement error. In that case, replacement with a new one is the only option. Time to measure: How to use a caliper? How to use a caliper to obtain an accurate measurement? First of all, use the correct scales. The large jaws are used for external measurements, while the small ones are for internal measurements. The procedure is very simple. Just open the caliper jaws of the caliper, then tighten them on the measured object. For internal measurements, simply open the smaller jaws. Finally, read how many positions the marks have moved from the “0” value. The final result is the difference expressed in millimeters. Remember to read it from the correct side of the guide: it has two scales, each located on the same side as the corresponding jaws. Measurements should be performed at the optimal temperature of 20°C – this applies more to the material than to the surroundings. Of course, it is not always possible to achieve such conditions, but it should be strived for. It is also important to equalize the temperature of the caliper and the measured part. Differences can affect measurement error. Operation of a caliper with an additional element The construction and operation of a caliper in some models have been enhanced with a retractable element for checking hole depth. Thinner than the guide, it is most often connected to the caliper slider. If this element does not have its own scale, you can successfully use the scale of the large jaws. What is the screw on a caliper for? You can increase the precision of using a caliper thanks to the screw located on the side of the guide. It is used to adjust the sliding resistance of the jaws. This is a very practical element that eliminates excessive looseness of the instrument and, consequently, difficulties in making a precise measurement. The screw can also be used to lock a measurement, which greatly facilitates ongoing work. A caliper is a universal measuring instrument that is particularly valued by mechanics. The operation of a caliper allows such specialists to quickly and precisely check the diameter of any component in a vehicle. Alongside other automotive tools, such as special wrenches, pliers, or pullers, it is one of the most important items in a toolbox. Once you know how to use a caliper, make sure to choose a high-quality instrument that will provide measurement precision and last longer. Manual calipers are not inferior to digital ones in this respect, although the latter allow for much faster measurements and are easier to use when working in poorly lit roomsAuthor: Paweł Sokołowski
